Since I decided to pass on Final Fantasy XIV for now, that freed up $80 to spend on other games this month. I spent it as follows:
- Tomb Raider (PSN, $10)
- Tomb Raider Anniversary (360, $20)
- Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (DS, $30)
- Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City (DS, $30)
Er… okay, that adds up to $90. I’ll skip lunch two days next week.
Both Tomb Raider titles are aces, but for different reasons, and Layton is Layton, which is about the highest praise I can give it. On the subject of EO3, though, I must say I fell in love with the game upon opening the box and noticing that it contains a hand-to-god fold-out insert. On one side are all the character classes, complete with skill trees. On the other, a full-color poster worthy of hanging on the wall. (You know, if you haven’t yet developed a distaste for damaging your awesome game swag with nail holes or scotch tape residue.)
Since I had to sacrifice FF14 in order to afford it, it seemed only fitting to name my guild after the lallafell I’m not playing: Guild Vivecci.
I’ll probably have a lot more to say about all these games in the coming weeks, but for now I need to get back to mapping. Ta!
