I had a longer post here, but the server ate it. I’ll re-type it later this week, but here’s a short-ish one in its place.
I read today that President Obama wants to direct 3% of the US’s GDP — $420 billion — towards scientific advancement. This is the kind of announcement that makes me swoon in a fit of irrational admiration. If he can actually follow through on this promise I’ll consider it a bang-whiz way to start off the 21st century. (We’ll just call those first eight years a practice decade.)
