“I learned to play this keyboard on Xbox.”

So I never ended up doing an E3 write-up, mainly because I didn’t really follow E3 and nothing really lept out at me… except Rock Band 3, which I already knew was coming.

What I’m getting excited about, though, is RB3’s Pro modes. Pro Keyboard will be supported right out of the box and Peanut says I can have a Pro Guitar controller if I want one. The prospect of a huge paradigm shift when it comes to gameplay, plus the fact that Pro difficulties will range the same spectrum as Standard ones, plus the thought that I might actually come away from the experience knowing something about a for-real musical instrument… it’s pretty exhilarating!

RB3 will, however, be the most expensive game I’ve ever purchased. Step one is to get a bigger hard drive. My 360’s HD is already full to bursting; I have to delete some games off of it just to make room for the 12-song pack I’m downloading next week. (And maybe some Mass Effect 2 DLC. We’ll see.) Then there’s the game itself, which needs to be purchased with the keyboard controller, plus the pro guitar, plus the third cymbal I need for pro drums, plus an extra microphone or two for harmonies (something I’ve needed ever since picking up The Beatles), plus whatever fees are associated with getting my RB2 tracks imported.

Grand total: $37,560.44. Time to sell a lung!
