Survivor: Nicaragua Finale

I didn’t watch it.

And there’s an excellent chance I won’t.

I’m still like four episodes behind, and my will to try and watch it is completely sapped. Each and every time I think, “Hmm, I’ll spend 45 minutes watching Survivor!” my brain immediately replies, “Are you MAD!? You could spend that 45 minutes doing anything else.”

It’s my feeling that this season was merely bad, but I’ve had a few people try to sell me on a different theory: CBS purposely put stupider people on the show as usual as a way to bolster ratings. I suppose the idea is that people who have no clue how to play the game are more entertaining to watch than people who do. I guess we’ll know for sure when the ratings for this season are in, but if that’s true, I don’t know that I’ll even make an attempt to watch future seasons. Survivor is a game. What’s the point in watching people deliberately play poorly?

Time these days is tight anyway, what with a combination of Minecraft and Christmas chipping away at my hours. If I find myself in a well of boredom after New Year’s I might go back and do a full week’s worth of Survivor posts just to put a cap on it… but they will be bitter, hateful things, devoid of joy and written by a man on the brink of despair.

The preview for next season’s twist sounds interesting, but… I don’t think you’re going to like it. Anything has to be better than this season, though, and I think the producers know it. Probst sounded downright desperate for viewers during the Reunion Show: ‘And tune in for the next season in February. You’re going to LOVE it!’

It actually picks up at the end.
