I’m flying into Ohio today to surprise my dad on his 50th birthday. (Don’t worry, by the time this goes live I’ll already be there and it’ll no longer be a surprise.)

Instead of an update, I’ll pose a question: now that I have a PSP, what are some good PSP games I can pick up on the cheap? I really don’t know a lot about what’s on the system outside of the five or six games that had caught my eye (the Mega Man remakes, MGS:PO, Crisis Core, Patapon… wasn’t there a tilty chicken game or something?), so recommendations on what I can look for when I go trawling through the used rack at Gamestop are appreciated.

Not that I particularly need any new PSP games in the near future; Dissidia is going to take a long time to clear, then there are like six other games I need to pick up for various consoles. Good lord, but it feels good to be back in the swing of things!

Nomic and Peemeister entries will go up over the weekend, and I’ll be back on Monday with a something.

I’m a big fan of the… Star… Ocean games, wow, I just remembered I have an abandoned Let’s Play I was intending on starting back up. If only I could get my controller and laptop working. Seriously though, those are big recommendations. The full titles are Star Ocean: First Departure and Star Ocean: Second Evolution.

Other recommendations largely fall within the things you’ve already got on you “to-buy” list. Outside those, I had a lot of fun with Daxter a few years back. Final Fantasy Tactics is good if SRPGs are your thing. I’ve heard good things about Rock Band Unplugged, although I can’t vouch for it first hand.

Tilty chicken game is Loco Roco. Having not played more than the demo myself, I can’t say much about that, except that you can download a demo for it, I believe.

There’s also Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles which was super cheap, last I checked. It has Rondo of Blood, which is pretty sweet, and also some unlockable game about night symphonies or something, I dunno.

Class of Heroes is a pretty neat dungeon crawler, if you don’t mind THE ANIMES.

I know you liked Etrian Odyssey, so have you looked at Class of Heroes? I don’t know if it’s on for cheap, though.

If you can find them, there’s also the Metal Gear Ac!d games (though you only really need to get the second), and if you’re really lucky, Wild ARMs XF.
