This post will only be up top for about seven hours.

Since I’m going to bed at 8am these days, I keep sleeping past my update deadline and getting posts up late. So I’m going to schedule Friday’s post to go live at midnight, and see if that helps matters any. (Pro tip: probably not!)

The thing about Rock Band track packs is that they tend to be released by artist, so if you’re not familiar with the artist you avoid the pack. I mean, why would you want to do actual research to determine whether or not you should spend your two bucks? I propose they should start releasing track packs of just randomly-selected songs flimsily linked together by subject matter. The idea is that you’d see one song in there you have to have and buy the other two along with it because hey, why not. Here’s some sample packs to get the ball rolling:

Call Your Travel Agent Pack 01

Africa – Toto
Turning Japanese – The Vapors
Land Down Under – Men At Work

The Dictionary Can’t Help You Now Pack 01

Sussudio – Phil Collins
Wanna Be Startin’ Something’ – Michael Jackson
Scatman – Scatman John

Homicide Is Acceptable Subject Matter For Popular Music Pack 01

Somebody Got Murdered – The Clash
Earl Had To Die – Dixie Chicks
Maneater – Hall & Oates

Why Did It Take Us So Long To Secure These Licenses, Seriously What Are We Paying Those Lawyers For Pack 01

American Pie – Don McLean
Stairway to Heaven – Led Zeppelin
Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen

Bonus points if one of the three songs is some obscure unrecognizable track nobody’s ever heard outside of hardcore music geek circles.
