Hay I Still Watch The Tee-Vee

Peanut and I have about two hours in common every week where we can buckle in and watch some TV together. This suits us fine because our tastes in television overlap in an extremely tiny area that essentially includes Survivor, Dexter, and not much else.

And you guys already know what I think about this season’s Survivor. I mean, I’m seriously considering just not even watching (or blogging about) the rest of it. I’m too terrified that my next post will literally just be a photo of the cracked, bloody spot on my desk where I banged my head until the paramedics dragged me away.

Dexter, on the other hand, remains as good as ever. Hmm… well, no, I guess that’s not true. The first three seasons were great, see, and then the fourth season was out of this world AMAZING… and now that we’re in season five, we’re merely back to great. I’m holding out hope that the writers didn’t just drop a couple of important plot threads I’ve been following, because the show will be weakened considerably if that’s the case. I think they’ve earned my faith, though.

Tonight, however, we watched the first episode of Boardwalk Empire. Holy moley this show is exactly what the doctor ordered. It all but set me on fire with excitement for this set-in-the-1920s story I’m supposed to be writing, and even for this 1920s-themed wedding I’m getting roped into next year. I just want to roll everything about the 1920s up into a big fat cigar and smoke it. Great setting, great characters, great story… I highly recommend it. You simply cannot go wrong with gangsters.

It looks like there are eight more episodes currently available. It’s going to take a lot of willpower to not sit here and burn through all of them tonight.

Unrelated news! I’m eating carrots. That’s really weird.

I’ll just comment that Survivor does get slightly better after the last episode you recapped, but not by a whole lot. Some glimmers of strategy finally start to emerge, and the most recent episode was actually pretty interesting, but it doesn’t hide the fact that these are mostly either terrible or boring people.

AHH! Boardwalk Empire is such a good show! I usually skip the days you blog about Survivor. You should totally replace it with blogs about Boardwalk.
